Does Slate Switch control lights directly ?
No. It sends commands to your hub, which in turn controls your smart lights, blinds, or devices.
Is a SmartThings hub required ?
Yes, Slate switch works with SmartThings or any Zigbee 3.0 compatible hub.
Does Slate Switch snap over all wall switches?
Yes, Slate Switch snaps over all types of wall switches in North America. With the additional adapter provided in the package, Slate Switch is compatible with toggle switches as well.
Can I reassign buttons ?
Yes. Just hold the rear mode button and tap the icon locations again.
How do I reset the device ?
Press and hold the Mode button for 10 seconds. At the 10-second mark, the switch will emit a short buzzer sound. Release the Mode button and press it three times to initiate the device reset. Upon a successful reset, a long buzzer will sound and the green LED will blink.
What happens if someone flips the physical wall switch ?
Slate Switch mounts over your wall switch to prevent that, keeping your smart devices powered and usable.
Is Slate Switch suitable for childproofing?
No, Slate Switch is not designed to childproof wall switches.
